Job Summary
Lead and participate in the operation of a specific filing line that is assigned
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instruct employees assigned to a particular line, during a given shift, as to proper work methods and safety procedures
Ensure proper cans, lids, labels and/or stickers are staged for the filling line and areas are clean and neat
Inspect product line operations and finished goods to ensure: adherence with quality control procedures, proper level and visible appearance of product, correct carton, sticker and batch number stamps are being used
Ensure adequate raw materials such as labels, stickers, and bailing wire, or other material are available and alert the supervisor of any material needs and required repairs to equipment
Operate all filling line equipment including labeler, bailing, filler and peripheral equipment, forklift and other related equipment including, when necessary, the automated control systems for this equipment
Measure and convert quantities of material in fill tanks
Train new employees and inspect pre-production line work, demonstrate and participate in line feeding and line casing operations
Feed empty containers through bailing, labeling, and sticker machines and identify any defects with labels, stickers, and other items
Acquire proper labels for labeling and filling; ensure label machine has correct labels and is properly adjusted; apply labels to five-gallon buckets; operate quart/gallon sticker machines; and appropriately batch and bar code printing equipment
Take inventory of cans produced and prepare Finished Can Report
Maintain equipment in proper, clean working condition and request maintenance help when needed
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent
Considerable experience in filling line production operations is required
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of safety procedures as well as applicable OSHA, DOT, and environmental rules and regulations
Knowledge of filling line procedures for all lines at a facility
Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques
Ability to operate a forklift
Ability to inspect and supervise operations of multiple lines before, during and after fills
Ability to prepare and analyze production reports
