As Lead Estimator, New build, you will be responsible for all estimating activities within the New Build Projects. This includes completing pricing outputs, as well as analyses for approvals and bid submissions. The role involves developing and managing the estimating plan, determining stakeholders, subcontractors and suppliers, supporting negotiations, and ensuring plan compliance. 

Responsibilities:
Lead the development of estimates and assign work scopes to the team in the New Build Projects.Review technical and contractual documentation to ensure accurate estimates.Develop and manage the estimating plan, ensuring that it is reviewed and approved by the Director.Analyze and estimate resources cost effectively for the New Build Projects.Ensure Basis of Estimate compliance with the estimating plan.Contact and negotiate with suppliers, introducing new ones as needed.Analyze supplier quotations for completeness and compliance with terms and conditions.Review and assess all cost inputs for consistency and adherence to the estimating plan.Use historical data to support estimate analysis, validation, and standards development.Develop a delivery schedule and estimate risks, managing the cost risk register.Lead the review of estimates, aligning them with the New Build Projects baseline.Consult with production, ship, and project managers to determine best processes.Cultivate relationships and improve communication between teams and stakeholders.Present total estimated cost analysis for internal bid submission approval.Ensure accurate labour charge-out rates.Coordinate the submission of pricing along with any bid proposal documentation.Qualifications:
Eight (8) or more years of estimating experience in ship repair, shipbuilding, major construction, or engineering.Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, naval architecture).In-depth knowledge of industry standards and estimating, contracting, and pricing approaches.Advanced knowledge of estimating tools and processes.Able to qualify for and pass the AACE Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) certification.Bilingual (French and English). Proficiency in English is required for this position, as the incumbent will be required to interact with our English-speaking clients, partners, and suppliers;Strong mathematical, communication, and interpersonal skills.Effective presentation skills for complex bids/projects.Strong analytical skills, capable of identifying connections in data and historical trends.Highly proficient in MS Office, particularly advanced level in using MS Excel.Superior prioritization, time management, organizational, and planning skills.Negotiation skills for internal and external stakeholders.Leadership capabilities for team management.
