Lead Engineer
Our Client, an EV Manufacturing company, is looking for a Lead Engineer for their Normal, IL location. Responsibilities: + Lead electrical and control system architecture of the Paint Shop Automation Systems. + Lead delivery of paint shop automation controls system engineering deliverables for process and robotic systems. Project Engineering Lead: + Responsible for decomposition of paint shop automation control systems architectural design and derivation of sub-system requirements & verification test definition. + Responsible for paint shop automation product architecture development including robotic motion control, conveyor systems, fluid handling, and process monitoring. + Responsible for development of safety-specific system level features and functions in accordance with industry best practices. + Responsible for paint shop automation programming, including process control, and quality monitoring. + Responsible for managing integrators and ensuring they are utilizing industry best practices and adhering strictly to Client Standards in the design and commissioning of new paint shop machinery and automation. Cross-Functional Collaboration: + Communicate and drive cross-functional development of control requirements with paint process engineering, manufacturing engineering, and quality teams. + Communicate with other engineers to update/modify documentation to maintain accurate representation of deliverables; Use tracking tools such as Confluence and JIRA to capture changes. + Consolidate and manage the paint shop automation control system requirements, architectures, and technology. Work in conjunction with expert SMEs to support and drive program team execution: + Interface with Core Team and paint shop automation project system SMEs to support requirements development and issue resolution. + Tailor and align Core Team electrical and control systems technology and requirements for use across paint shop automation projects. + Quickly transition to a variety of engineering discipline work, from high-level cross sub-system projects to specific component focus, depending on need of the team and stage of development/production. + Coordinate delivery of electrical and control system requirements in compliance with safety design principles for paint shop automation. + Responsible for creation of end-of-line requirements that validate the paint shop automation system design in a production setting. + Work with engineers across multiple disciplines to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks: Requirements: + Really press on the Durr logic and EPLAN based hardware experience + Must be able to adapt and work within dynamic development timelines, with accelerated hardware production timelines, and software release cadence. + Detailed understanding of software interaction between the paint shop automation controls and the rest of the manufacturing system; familiar with robotic control, conveyor systems, fluid handling, and process monitoring architectures. + Previous experience with cross-functional FTA, DFMEA and management of design review and release processes. + 8+ years of work experience in industrial automation, robotics, and/or automotive paint shop industries. + At least a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (Electrical, Controls, Mechanical, or related field). + Expert knowledge of industrial automation systems, robotic control, and process control. + Expert knowledge of industrial safety standards and practices. + Previous experience in automotive or large-scale manufacturing product development environments. + Previous experience launching large volume automated manufacturing systems. + Creating the requirements from the ground up, using engineering analysis. + Excellent problem-solving skills; reliant on core engineering principles and common sense. + Strong communication, multitasking, and interpersonal skills, both in presentation and technical writing. + Previous experience with product launches and production schedules. + Previous experience with Allen Bradley based Durr logic and EPLAN based hardware design standards.
