Lead Electrical Engineer

This is a position within FORTNA’s Electrical Engineering team responsible for directing the design and documentation of electrical deliverables. The ideal candidate has significant experience and background in Electrical Engineering / design and is experienced and/or capable of providing leadership and direction to the Electrical Engineering project team during project implementation. Leadership tasks shall be aligned with FORTNA’s Integrated Design Methodology to ensure successful project implementation. This role requires design tasks direction utilizing standard design tools to provide high quality electrical designs in support of Clients’ needs.

Responsibilities:

Leading, directing, delivering, and supporting multiple projects through the detail design and implementation phaseDirecting project teams and support resources during development of RFP/Supplier Selection, detailed electrical design packages, equipment procurement activities, installation drawing packages, and support of installation contractors, Project Manager, and Site Manager with installation effortsProviding input and influencing Description of Operation (DOO) & Functional Specification Documentation (FSD) to ensure documents align with Electrical Engineering implementation plansContributing electrical drawings, BOMs, and design content that meet the project requirements and customer expectationsIdentifying project meetings cadence and resource requirements:Developing Electrical Engineering work plan and resource requirements to ensure successful project milestone achievementsEnsuring deliverables meets Drawing Quality Control (DQC) requirements:Control panel fabrication packageElectrical installation packageAs Built documentationMentoring less experienced engineersLeading electrical prototype efforts for complex solutions, including development of prototyping plans and communication of scopeConducting site visits to assist with installation and commissioning support activitiesAttending Client meetings as requiredSupporting development of lessons learned documentUtilizing AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical for drawingsProactively seeking work to maintain project utilizationBuilding in Quality Control for Engineering processes and deliverablesDevelop and implement strategies to maintain and improve the quality of engineering processes, products, and servicesConduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standardsDesign and execute comprehensive training programs for engineering staff to enhance their skills, knowledge, and competenciesDevelop and maintain detailed documentation, including manuals, guidelines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs), to support engineering activitiesEstablish a culture of continuous improvement and mechanisms to promote mentoring of associates across the Engineering departmentWork closely with engineering teams to develop action plans and initiatives to address performance gaps and optimize processes

Qualifications:

Electrical Engineering Bachelors degree (or similar engineering program) from an accredited college with 12+ years of relevant experience, or 2-year degree from an accredited college with 15+ years of relevant experienceConveyor control process experience (photoeyes, solenoids, variable frequency drive, line scanner, print and apply application)Knowledge of and ability to work with and manage multiple suppliersAbility to work effectively on a team and support high levels of performanceStrong management and advanced collaboration and communication skills (written and verbal communication)Extensive experience working with MS Project and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Experience in standard design of relevant material handling equipment for positionProficient in the use of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical for electrical designAbility to self-motivateStrong interpersonal, organizational, time management and problem-solving skillsAbility to travel nationally and internationally in support of our projectsAbility to perform essential functions of the job

This position requires up to 20% travel to various job site locations

The base salary range for this role is $87,600 to $131,300.  This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position. Actual base salary offered will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance.
