Essential Functions / Responsibilities:
Develop, plan, and provide technical support for the introduction of new MRI magnet assemblies and technologies. Provide support for implementing improvements to existing products that enhance performance, reliability, or reduce cost. Interface with internal and external counter-parts to achieve program goals and integrate global activities. Conduct research and development investigations to develop and test new magnet assembly processes and procedures, improve existing or develop new processes. Prepare technical reports as a result of research and development and preventive maintenance investigations. Establish designs, assembly and manufacturing procedures to guide production specification. Evaluate new developments in assembly, tooling and equipment. Direct and coordinate technical personnel in performing inspections to ensure workers' compliance with established assembly procedures. Coordinate cross-functional design, analysis, and testing of MRI magnets. Drive design for manufacturability, understanding ergonomic and EH&S considerations. Support manufacturing lean initiatives. Provide creative solutions to unstructured product and system design issues from both factory and field. Participate in many phases of the product development life cycle, from concept and product specification generation, to manufacturing ramp up and manufacturing production support, optimizing functionality, manufacturability, reliability, serviceability and cost. Participate in product safety, cost out, cycle time reduction and quality enhancement projects. Support the manufacturing plant and the Installed Base. Support and comply with the quality and safety goals of GE Healthcare (GEHC).
Qualifications / Requirements:
Master’s degree or equivalent in Engineering or related. One (1) year in Superconducting Magnet Manufacturing. Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering or related and three (3) years in Superconducting Magnet Manufacturing in lieu of a Master's degree or equivalent and one (1) year of experience as described above. Academic background, internship or work experience to include: working in a manufacturing environment; Manufacturing processes including heavy equipment manufacturing, assembly technology, materials technology and manufacturing methods technology; Hardware experience with large assemblies or complex machinery; Working with cross-functional teams; Project management; and Working on medical devices.
