The Lead Design Manager is responsible for shaping the design strategy of a Product while maintaining hands-on involvement in User research and execution. They guide and develop a team of designers, fostering growth and excellence in design thinking and delivery. They leverage extensive experience in user research, interaction design, and visual systems to create compelling digital experiences. They manage the full design lifecycle - from discovery and user research through wireframing, prototyping and final implementation, working in close partnership with Product Management, R&D, Customer Success and other cross-functional teams. and will be located in Bangalore in Hybrid Model.
In this role, what you would typically do:
Lead Design Manager will drive design vision while leading a team and maintaining hands-on involvement in research and execution.
Creating exceptional products begins with a relentless focus on the “why” and a clear understanding of user needs and behavior. Drive thoughtful, passionate discussions and be ready to sketch ideas and bring solutions to life
Developing and evolving the overall design strategy and vision that aligns with business objectives, user needs, while Identifying opportunities for innovation and differentiation through design.
Leading and mentoring a team of designers, providing clear direction on projects, conducting design reviews, and fostering professional growth through regular 1:1s and team critiques. This also includes defining quality standards and best practices for the design team.
Contributing to product strategy through competitive research, and identification of user experience opportunities. Advocating for user-centered design approaches at all levels of the organization.
Planning and conducting user research activities including usability testing and user interviews, and synthesizing research findings into actionable insights and clear design requirements.
Creating and iterating on design deliverables such as user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes while ensuring alignment with product strategy and user needs.
Collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define scope, timeline, and success metrics.
Establishing and maintaining design systems, documentation, and processes to ensure consistency and efficiency across projects.
Staying current with UX/UI trends, tools, and methodologies while identifying opportunities to innovate and improve team processes.
Professional Knowledge
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, HCI, or related field
7+ years of product design experience in SAAS products, with 2+ years leading design teams
Deep expertise in user research methodologies and product design execution
Strong understanding of design systems, interaction design, and information architecture
Experience with modern design and prototyping tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite)
Proven track record of shipping successful digital products
Strong presentation and storytelling skills for stakeholder communication
Experience mentoring designers and building high-performing teams
The essential requirements of the job include
7+ years of product design experience with proven leadership experience
Strong portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking and hands-on execution
Experience leading teams of 2+ designers
Deep expertise in user research and design methodologies
