Lead Database Developer-DB2 Database

We are looking for Lead DB2 Database Administrator to join our technology team at Clarivate. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of DB2 databases to ensure high performance and availability.

About You – experience, education, skills and accomplishments 

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Minimum 5+ years of experience with strong IBM DB2 LUW architecture understanding.

Experience in working on latest version of IBM DB2 LUW.

Experience in upgrading IBM DB2 LUW and installing its fixpacks.

Minimum 5+ years of experience with SQL & PL/SQL programming and query optimization.

Minimum 5+ years of experience in database performance tuning and capacity planning. 

Good understanding of operating systems like AIX, Linux, Windows.

Excellent knowledge of DB2 security management.

Solid understanding of DB2 data security, backup, and recovery procedures. 

It would be great if you also had… 

In-depth understanding of database architecture and data modelling principles. 

Good knowledge on Cloud databases solutions like AWS RDS and Azure Db solutions.

Good knowledge ofother relational DBs (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL in particular) would be highly advantageous​.

What will you be doing in this role? 

Database Design and Development: Collaborate with the software development team to design, implement, and upgrade efficient database structures that meet the organization's requirements. Develop and maintain database schemas, tables, views, stored procedures, and functions. 

Database Performance Tuning: Monitor database performance using tools such as db2pd, db2diag, db2top, and other DB2 diagnostic utilities.

SQL code optimizations: Optimize queries, indexes, data schemas, and database configurations to enhance system performance. 

Disaster Recovery: Configure and manage High Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR) to ensure data availability during failures.

Data Security and Integrity: Implementing security policies, encryption, and ensuring compliance with regulations like GDPR, HIPAA.  

Data Integration and ETL: Develop and maintain data integration processes, including Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) data warehouse/ reporting tools. Collaborate with software developers to ensure accurate and timely data extraction, transformation, and loading across various systems. 

Database Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database environments, including data dictionaries, schemas, configurations, and standard operating procedures. Generate regular reports on database performance, capacity, and usage. 

Backup, Recovery, and Disaster Planning: Working in collaboration with DevOps, develop and maintain database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability. Ensure regular backups, test data recovery processes, and create disaster recovery plans. 

Monitoring & Alerts: Perform/Ensure 24 x 7 on-call support of DB2/or others productive databases estate using DataDog, PagerDuty (across escalation policies, on-call schedule).

You will be part of a Database team that operate horizontally across the Intellectual Property pillar.  We have a variety of databases genres, both in cloud and on-premises, and you would be expected to support and become deeply knowledgeable in other databases.  We have a philosophy and open mindset to learning new technology that enhances the business objectives.

Hours of work

This is a full-time opportunity with Clarivate. 9 hours per day including lunch break.
