Job Summary:

As a Community Support Specialist Lead, you'll provide community-based services and lead a team of Community Support Specialists (CSS) in developing treatment plans and supporting individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. Key Responsibilities:

Team Participation and Feedback: Participate in clinical staffing and treatment team meetings, providing feedback and direction to the team.

Treatment Plan Development: Develop and assist the CSS team in creating evolving, individualized, and creative treatment plans.

Screening and Assessment Coordination: Coordinate screenings/assessments and complete related correspondence in a timely manner.

File Review and Compliance: Assist in file reviews, ensuring treatment plans align with assessments, DAP utilization, progress note referencing, and transition planning. Ensure compliance with DMH/CARF and agency regulations.

Community Representation and Advocacy: Represent the agency in community programs and develop a community referral base for client advocacy.

Supervisory Meetings and Training: Conduct weekly supervisory meetings for CSS training and document them in supervisory records. Enhance group facilitation skills among CSSs through training and observational feedback.

Crisis Management: Handle crisis situations and follow up with investigation/incident reports as needed.

Staff Management: Assist in interviewing, hiring, and training new community support staff. Fulfill all duties of a Community Support Specialist. Assume the CSS Supervisory role in the absence of the CSS and/or Clinical Supervisor.

Company Goals and Compliance: Demonstrate interest in the company's long-term and short-term goals and objectives. Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President or designee, and the Chief Executive Officer.

Education and/or Experience Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution and at least one (1) year of full-time equivalent experience in providing community support services; OR

Bachelor’s Degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution and at least two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience in providing community support services; AND

Demonstrated competencies in supervision and substance abuse treatment and rehabilitation through experience and/or training.


 

Additional Qualifications:

Thorough knowledge of case management and rehabilitation methods related to mental health and/or substance abuse treatment services.

Extensive knowledge of program policies, procedures, and regulations.

Detailed knowledge of community resource access for individuals with mental illness and/or substance use disorders.

Considerable knowledge of treatment methods, legal requirements, and court procedures related to mental health and substance abuse.

Some knowledge of supervisory and training techniques in a mental health setting.

Ability to develop, coordinate, and evaluate services within assigned program responsibilities.

Capability to communicate ideas clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to produce clear and concise reports.
 

Supervisory Requirements:

Communicate the strategic direction of the organization and encourage participation by all associates.

Provide leadership and guidance in all aspects of Community Support work.

Monitor and execute strategic objectives.

Involve associates appropriately to achieve goals.

Communicate changes within the department and/or company to ensure implementation and practice.

Handle difficult personnel situations with discretion and Human Resource advice.

Champion change and manage the implementation of new ideas.

Reinforce a team approach throughout functions, supporting and soliciting input from team members at all levels within the company.
