Lead Billing Analyst
Lead Billing Analyst Location: White Plains, US **Summary** The Lead Billing Analyst ensures timely and accurate production and distribution of customer bills in accordance with customer contracts, policies, and procedures. This role involves generating and validating customer invoices, addressing various billing data requests from internal and external customers, and reviewing accounts payable invoices related to purchased power, wheeling, and related services. The Lead Billing Analyst is responsible for recommending process improvement, troubleshooting issues that arise during the monthly billing cycle, and collaborating with billing team, NYPA IT, external and internal customers for resolve. \#LI-JP1 **Responsibilities** + Thorough understanding of Accounts Payable/Billing E2E processes and procedures, ensuring the timely and accurate invoicing of customers and providing payment to vendors in accordance with negotiated contracts, policies, and procedures. + Analyze data to prepare regularly scheduled and specialized billing/AP reports, analyses, and statements for management review; review and analyze statistical reports individual customer groupings. + Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports using SAP Business Intelligence or any other ERP system. + Review data interfaced from various sources (S&S, EE&ED, IOU’s, etc.) and used in the creation of customer invoices to check for accuracy and identify issues. + Perform data analysis to produce semi-complex customer invoices as assigned. Review and distribute finalized invoices by contractual due dates. + Analyze data, prepare regularly scheduled reports, and create specialized billing reports, analyses, and statements for management review. Review & analyze statistical reports analyzing data billed, data received and data processed for individual customer grouping. + Analyze power generation data for individual customer group billing and use in monthly year-end reporting to the Department on Energy (DOE). + Provide the Billing Manager with a record of issues identified during each individual billing cycle and review NYPA’s Wheeling bills from other utilities. + Update transported price changes, analyzing and loading interface files into ERP billing system, and performing corrections to errors in the Error Management System + Function as a liaison between the Billing department and other NYPA departments, or external vendors and provide advice on billing matters. **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities** + Ability to processing invoices in a corporate environment. + Effective oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of organization internally and external customers. + Working knowledge and experience in using a fully computerized Financial System. + Knowledge of Accounts Payable/Billing processes and procedures. + Possess advanced skills in PC and Microsoft applications. + Proficient in using a fully computerized Financial System. + Experience of an ERP system and any SaaS payment solutions. **Education, Experience and Certifications** + Bachelor’s Degree + 4 years working in an Accounts Payable role preferred. **OR** + Associate's Degree + 6 years working in an Accounts Payable role preferred. **Additionally:** + Experience with a fully computerized Accounts Payable System (preferably SAP) preferred. **Physical Requirements** Limited travel (about 10%) required primarily to our generating facilities.
