Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Lead Accountant to support the evolving landscape of state and federal renewable fuels compliance programs, including RINs, LCFS, and other emerging regulatory frameworks. This role is part of the Renewable Accounting & Compliance team and acts as a critical liaison between Accounting, IT, and various business stakeholders to ensure accurate, efficient, and compliant reporting within our Renewable Compliance Management System (RCMS).

The successful candidate will lead cross-functional initiatives, drive system improvements, and support accounting operations for compliance programs. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with departments such as Trading, Scheduling, Compliance, and IT to support and improve our renewable fuels compliance accounting process.

Key Responsibilities

Collects, compiles, analyzes, and verifies financial and other data to ensure the integrity of accounting records. Investigates and resolves discrepancies of RCMS and Right-Angle Data.Manage the monthly review of the RCMS issue log and enhancement request queue.Creates, records and reviews journal entries and other transactions, maintains general ledger, and reconciles accounts. Identifies efficiency gaps and recommends ways to improve processes and standards.Documents, updates, and maintains internal procedures. May develop and evaluate processes.Leads cross-functional projects related to area of expertise.Ensures the integrity of financial transactions with both internal and external stakeholders.Supports accounting processes by driving and prioritizing business requirements, system enhancements, and/or accounting standards.Helps to develop, manage, and ensure standard business processes are followed across multiple accounting functions.Ensures proper execution of controls and performance, documentation, and retention in accordance with accounting policy.Displays advanced ability to utilize systems/tools, which may include, but not limited to, Excel, SAP, Right Angle, RCMS, etc.May assist management with team oversight and review the work of others. Trains, mentors, and assists in providing direction to other Accountants.Supports accounting processes by driving and prioritizing system enhancements for RCMSEnsures proper execution of controls and performance, documentation, and retention in accordance with Accounting principles.Facilitate user access to RCMS, including quarterly access reviews.Organize and lead recurring meetings between Compliance and Accounting to align on key issues and process changes.Provide support and guidance to accountants within the department and assist daily troubleshooting of RCMS issues.Play a lead role in designing and implementing procedures, controls, and system solutions for new compliance programs and business processes.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. Accounting preferred.Minimum of 5 years of experience accounting, finance, or related experience.Experience with renewable fuels compliance programs (e.g., RINs, LCFS) preferred.RightAngle experience preferred.
