Launch Engineer

You will be responsible to deliver new model vehicle launches at Ohio Assembly Plant on time, on cost, and at the targeted quality levels.  This is accomplished by managing the launch parts/processes, communicating program change, preparing the plant launch team, and participating in builds.

You'll have...

· High School Diploma or GED

· 2 or more years of Controls Engineering experience (internship and coop experience will be considered)

Even better, you may have...

Engineering Degree (ME, etc.) preferred. 2-3 years automotive experience required; union experience preferred. Excellent communication skills (written and oral) required. Strong Microsoft Office skills preferred, particularly Excel.

What you'll do…

Manage the launch parts and processes. Create, maintain, and share an OTG (Open to Go) parts list for the launch team. Review the BOM for errors/issues that would disrupt the build/production. Compare available Teledata against prior model year for new or changed content. Request AIS box updates based on changes to new and current part usage. Audit for deformas that may need updated based on content or Teledata changes. Work collaboratively to assess part pick sheets and initiate respective changes. Communicate program change. Lead OTG discussion with launch coordinators and PSG team. Participate in daily Change Control meetings. Participate in regular CLL (Cycle Line Layout) meetings. Participate in forward PAT meetings. Prepare the plant launch team. Work with GME to identify and resolve workstation needs, part issues, and broadcast changes. Review vehicle specifications.  Ensure new content is adequately represented. Worth with department management, launch team, and scheduling to develop a build schedule by vehicle/build. Produce and share launch communication to department management. Will contain build dates, vehicle specifications, BOMs, and facility/tooling changes. Participate in builds. Attend pre-production builds at Roush and/or NMPDC. Verify parts are present and ready for each program/build. Walk vehicles through the plant during build and document issues. Ensure issues are captured in AIMS. Work with Ford systems: CMMS - Common Material Management System LQOS - Launch Quality Operating System OTG - Open to Go QLS - Quality Leadership System WERS - Worldwide Engineering Release System  Travel could be as much as 25%; domestic and possibly international. Rotate between Launch team roles as necessary. Schedule/pay hourly team members using WF1 (Work Force 1).
