We are seeking a Land Application Coordinator for our Biosolids Recycling Program based in South-West Ontario. The suitable candidate will be a highly motivated individual to assist with land coordination and program promotion. They will have a knowledge base in agronomy, biosolids management, and/or environmental sciences.

Extensive training will be provided in the use of ArcView Mapping Systems, our Data Management program and NASM planning. This is an excellent opportunity to build a career in the environmental industry.  At GFL our goal is to invest in our people and provide opportunities to grow, for life!

Key Accountabilities 

Using a soil probe, collect and prepare soil samples following sampling and analysis protocols under the Nutrient Management Act set forth by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) and Ministry of Environment and Parks (MECP)Collect samples using GIS maps and aerial photographyTravel within Halton Region and adjoining municipalities DutiesSubmit samples to various laboratories using submission formsOrganize and prioritize future field sampling locationsPromoting land application process to farmers and overseeing the contractsMaintaining a wide variety of records and reports and meeting environmental officials to ensure compliance with regulations and permitsWork closely with municipal officialsResearch changing regulations and make recommendations regarding compliance strategy

 Experience, Qualifications & Education

Diploma or Degree in Environmental or Agricultural Science, or a Technician program including Geography, Agriculture or equivalentMust be able to navigate and perform tasks using GPS, maps, and aerial photographyMust have a G class license and be able to operate a company vehicle on off-road and rough terrainConsiderable knowledge of land application principles, practices and regulations.Considerable knowledge of the regulations to biosolids distribution practicesRequired to follow regulation, protocol, practices and standardsMust be able to work independently in the field and while travelling to various fields throughout OntarioProficient in the use of Microsoft Office and GIS mapping systemsRequired to obtain their NASM Plan Developers Certification within 6 months of employment
