Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. Job Summary
Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. Provides advanced lactation support and education to inpatient and outpatient populations of infants, pregnant and postpartum mothers. Knowledgeable in the concepts and steps of the Baby Friendly initiative and supports the initiatives beliefs and values. Leads classes for new and expectant mothers and their families Ability to work in a variety of settings (industry, community, telehealth, civic groups, class room style) Works to support state initiatives such as Birth Comes, Baby Friendly, Safe Sleep Actively engaged in staff and physician training Interacts with multidisciplinary team around infant/mother concerns Helps New or Expectant mothers with necessary resources (equipment, support, aid) for breast feeding success Encourages clinical staff to manage basic breast feeding concepts Uses good time management skills to address all consults in a timely manner Understands retail operations of the Resource Center Works flex ably as a team to meet the needs of patients and families in a variety of setting Ensure all documentation is completed timely and accurately to ensure consistency in communication with other care givers Able to function independently within 6 month time frame Conducts follow-up phone call to breast feeding mothersWork Schedule: PRN (As needed).
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education:
Must possess a valid SC license – RN, BLS Certified as Lactation Counselor
