Labourer (Hvac Swamper) - Telecommunications

Job Summary:

You are a labourr swamper with 1-2+ years of experience in underground utility construction working on Outside Plant (OSP) construction. You will support the hydrovac operator in excavating soil safety and efficiently. You will also perform general labour duties and collaborate with the other crew members to complete work safely and efficiently, under the direction of the foreman.

Essential Responsibilities:

Supports the hydrovac operator, contributing to a smooth hydro excavation process for underground utility construction Ensures the safe and successful completion of all hydrovac requirements Completes regular vehicle maintenance checks and associated paperworkKeeps crew vehicles consistently clean and organizedWorks with crew members to perform the day’s tasks (excavating pits, rod, and rope conduits, placing underground cables in conduits, assisting in directional bore operations, removing and replacing concrete and asphalt, etc...)Operates equipment and lifts heavy items (up to 50 lbs.)Assists in restoring job sites back to their original stateMaintains a healthy and safe work environment for the crew, the public, the customer, and Ledcor

Qualifications:

DZ driver’s license is preferred but not required Experience working in the underground utility construction, civil construction or landscaping is an assetCapable of reading underground telecommunication plans and work maps is an assetExperience operating and maintaining mini excavators, skid steers and backhoesStrong time management skills with the ability to attend to a broad range of activitiesTechnically adept with a strong ability to learn quickly, analyze information, and problem solveClean drivers abstract
