Labourer
A General Laborer is responsible for safely and efficiently performing general labor duties at a landfill. Responsibilities will include such things as litter pick-up, fueling vehicles and equipment, general vehicle operation, general office maintenance and other related duties. 



 

  

Key Responsibilities: 

Pick up litter around the landfill 

Fuel vehicles and equipment. 

Clean tracks and related equipment on track-type machinery. 

Perform yard work, such as mowing and yard trimming. 

Perform snow removal, including shoveling and snowblowing. 

Operate general site vehicles and equipment, including water trucks, pickup trucks, mowers, and trimming equipment. 

Conduct general office maintenance and repairs. 

Direct traffic on-site when necessary. 

Perform other duties as required or requested by management. 

Adhere to company safety policies and federal, state, and local safety regulations. 

 

Requirements: 

High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required. 

Must meet safety-sensitive criteria in accordance with company standards. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

Ability to read, write, perform basic math, and communicate effectively. 

Ability to follow instructions and work with limited supervision. 

Capable of operating necessary equipment for the job. 

Ability to solve common problems using common sense. 

Physical/Mental Demands: 

Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift in an outdoor environment for 90% of the time. 

Frequent use of hands and fingers, climbing, and balancing. 

Must have good visual acuity (close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustments). 

Ability to lift/move up to 65 pounds regularly and push/move up to 100 pounds with assistance. 

Working Conditions: 

Frequent exposure to loud noise, humidity, extreme weather (hot/cold), and hazardous conditions (e.g., moving mechanical parts, vibrations, chemicals, fumes, airborne particles). 

Work is primarily outdoors (up to 100% of the time). 

Occasional work at heights or in precarious places. 

Regular exposure to motor vehicle traffic conditions. 

Work environment is typically loud.
