Job Opening:

The Department of Conservation and Recreation seeks applicants for the position of Laborer II, Wachusett.

This position performs various manual tasks as assigned in assisting tradesmen; repair and construction work; trims trees, bushes and brush using hand and power tools; cuts grass and brush using hand and power tools; operates light automotive trucks; other related duties such as loading and unloading vehicles, cleaning and repairing drains and structures, sweeps sidewalks, rakes leaves, removes snow using hand and power tools; plows and sands roadways; and services and makes routine repairs to automobiles, trucks and other power equipment.

Duties Include:

-Performs maintenance functions in the Wachusett/Sudbury Section using appropriate hand and power tools including:

-Cutting of grass, cutting brush on lawns, dikes and slopes and shorelines

-Sweeping of walkways, driveways and roadways

-Plowing, sanding and shovel driveways, parking lots and walkways

-Cutting of forest roads

-Fence erection and repairs

-Gate installation

-Maintenance duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and bathroom cleaning

-Culvert cleaning and installation

-Raking of leaves

-Servicing and making minor repairs to power tools

-Hauling using wheelbarrows and trucks

-Trimming of trees and shrubs
