\nJob Summary
\nThe Lab Tech 2 receives and/or processes specimens, performs clerical checks and support functions. May perform phlebotomy.
\nEssential Functions of the Role
\n\nConducts routine laboratory procedures where the range of possible errors is limited.\nSorts, labels and records patient specimens. Set up specimen, material and equipment in preparation for Medical Technologist to perform test.\nOperates centrifuge, simplex timers, cell washer and other Laboratory equipment in completing assigned duties.\nMaintains appropriate inventory of supplies.\nMaintains effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.\nParticipates in laboratory projects and educational activities.\n\nKey Success Factors
\n\nPhlebotomy skill for all age groups.\nAbility to comprehend and communicate instructions.\nSkill in the use of computers and related software applications.\nKnowledge of safety and infection control standards.\nAbility to work in a team environment.\n\nBelonging Statement
