PIC, a Genus PLC company, has an exciting opportunity. We are looking for a Laboratory Supervisor. This role oversees laboratory production operations, including assembly, processing and/or packaging. This role sets laboratory production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, materials supply, staffing resources and volume required to meet demand and to ensure maximum production quantity and quality.

 

The successful candidate has the ability to work in a culturally diverse, fast-paced environment as well as analyze and solve problems in an in an independent work environment. The candidate can work autonomously as well as collaboratively across functional teams and possesses strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

 

The position is based at the Genesis facility in Scottsville, Kentucky.

You Will Set priorities for the team to ensure task completion and coordinate work activities with guidance from the Production ManagerMake decisions that are guided by policies, procedures and business plansRequire an understanding and application of procedures and concepts within own discipline and basic knowledge of other disciplinesTrain novice employees on the most current Standard Operating ProceduresConduct all people management responsibilities for direct reports, including but not limited to labor management, performance management, recruitment and training and developmentVerify accurate and timely production information and records are maintainedAssist with herd-health testing protocols, submission forms and timely dispatch of test samplesSupervise and be responsible for daily laboratory activities, including but not limited to:Semen processing;Laboratory hygiene;Coordination and management of the collections schedule, ensuring customer orders are distributed within targeted timelines;Calibration and operation of all analytical instruments and processes;Ordering supplies and inventory control; andReporting of team activities, standard operating compliance and production volumesImplement change plans in accordance with operational needsImplement and hold others accountable for following the Company’s animal care policies and procedures, safety program, bio-security protocols as well as compliance with all environmental laws and proceduresWork hours needed operationally, which can vary frequently and include weekend, evening, holidays and emergency situationsComplete the required tasks of all other duties as assigned necessary, for the care of the swine and/or swine facility Requirements A minimum of two (2) years of experience within contemporary swine production systems/laboratories, partnered with proven results & proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applicationsAble to manage a team of 5+ employeesTravel a maximum of 5-10%, based on production needs Business Overview
