Work with our team of pathologists at Amber Valley to track and monitor quality metrics, TAT, process improvements and assist with our initiative to pursue a digital strategy for sign out and remote coverage needs (frozen sections, ROSE, etc.)

Summary

Provide leadership for quality systems to ensure the delivery of services in accordance with the Sanford’s Mission, Vision, and Strategic goals. Develops and maintains the Sanford Medical Laboratory Quality program, including the coordination of laboratory safety training and education for all laboratory staff members.

Job Description

Reviews knowledge of techniques, procedures, and protocols, lab-wide and within lab section. Participates in validation and verification activities as needed. Develops, writes, reviews, and updates procedures as requested. Uses statistical analysis to measure success of elements of the quality program. Assists laboratory leadership to prepare for inspections related to accreditation with the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA). Must have a thorough knowledge of general laboratory operations, health care operations, and management principles.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related science is required.

Five years’ laboratory experience in a hospital or clinic laboratory preferred.

Possess a national certification for Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice. Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications. May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
