We are looking for an experienced Laboratory Manager to support the development, test, validation, flight production and operations of our water and gas analysis laboratory for the Axiom Station environmental control and life support subsystem (ECLSS). The role requires a strong technical background, people / organizational time management, and adept communication skills. This position reports to the ECLSS Director. **This role is onsite and will be based at our SSDF facility.**
+ Responsible for lab staffing, infrastructure, capabilities, utilization, and sustaining.
+ Responsible for execution of production and processing activities to support flight and development assembly, build, test quality and delivery goals.
+ Manages and communicates lab and production schedules, utilization, status, challenges, and resolutions for production activities.
+ Assist in management of lab budgets, equipment, and procurements.
+ Responsible for development and continuous improvement of lab practices, processes, tools, standards, and training in compliance with Axiom policies.
+ Responsibility and ownership of lab team output and performance.
+ Resource management and prioritization across active projects.
+ Directly support the team with hands-on lab support activities as needed.
+ Team morale and culture management, including individual one-on-ones.
+ Conflict resolution and removal of impediments.
+ Participate in interviews, as applicable, and provide input for interviewing, hiring, and terminating employees.
+ Performance management and establishment of annual objectives & key results (OKRs) for laboratory team.
+ Act as a resource to provide guidance, support, and mentorship to technicians and chemists within the discipline.
+ Other duties as assigned.
+ Report to and support the ECLSS manager.

**Education & Experience**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Environmental Chemistry, or related field required
+ 5-10+ years of experience leading teams
+ ISO9001/AS9100 readiness for lab certification experience
+ Document control and procedure-writing
+ Laboratory quality management experience
+ Familiarity with implementing lab safety measures
+ Experimental design and analytical instrument methods development experience preferred
+ Familiarity with EPA drinking/wastewater analysis methods preferred
+ Familiarity with any of the following instrumentation methods preferred:
+ Total Organic Carbon Analysis
+ Ion Chromatography
+ Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry
+ UV/Vis Spectrophotometry
+ Tensiometry

**Other Requirements**

**Work Environment**
+ Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
**Physical Requirements**
+ Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time).
+ May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
