Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related scientific discipline. Experience: Minimum of five years of experience. Must have previous experience managing projects. Experience must include a minimum of one year in a lead/supervisory/managerial role Preferred Qualifications Education:A Master’s degree or PhD is preferred. Job Duties Description of Job Duty DUTIES PERFORMED BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Functions as a skilled individual contributor or lead researcher on one or more research projects, serving as an expert in specialized area(s) Manages research projects, develops and administers budgets, schedules, and performance metrics Oversees lab activities related to space, lab equipment, compliance, safety, procurement, quality assurance and quality control Direct supervision of laboratory staff including delegation of work assignments, recruitment, training and development, performance management, and career development Supervises and trains lab technicians, research assistants, research coordinators, interns, students, and other personnel in laboratory techniques and procedures Designs, develops and conducts large and/or complex research experiments Reviews progress of research and evaluates results Refines/adapts methodologies to fit specific experiment requirements Collaborates in the development of new techniques, data analysis, and manuscript preparation Co-authors publications and may co-present findings with Principal Investigator at meetings/conferences Follows and ensures staff follows industry standards and safety regulations for handling and disposing of test samples Performs related responsibilities as required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of applicable regulatory and industry standards Must be familiar with the operation of standard lab equipment and with lab safety and biosafety procedures Ability to work independently Proficient with web-based applications, databases and Microsoft Excel Excellent organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills are essential for this role Strong managerial skills Pre-Employment/Employment Requirements
