Laboratory Assistant - HPX - FT - Nights

Job Summary Receives and assesses all specimens for integrity into the laboratory. Distributes all acceptable specimens to appropriate lab sections. Aliquots, prepares and stores all specimens for referral testing. Performs waived testing. Obtains specimens by venipuncture when OPDS lab assistants are off duty. Reports to Laboratory Central Processing Coordinator or supervisor on duty. Receives general supervision from the Laboratory Director and Laboratory Manager of PI/POCT/Pathology. Qualifications Education High school education or equivalent. Requires some knowledge of medical terminology. Experience 3 months phlebotomy experience; or a phlebotomy certificate with 32 hours of clinical rotation; or 6 months experience in a medical field providing patient care which includes drawing blood or blood processing; or current MLT student in clinical rotations; or one or more college level courses in a biological science. (Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience). Licensure/Certification Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment. Compensation/Benefits $14.47-$23.34/hr depending on previous work experience.
