Label Machine Operator (2nd and 3rd Shift)
Operates labelers (Quadrel/Langguth Labeler) and equipment used in the manufacturing of food products. Works with other employees to effectively meet or exceed expectations for product quality and production rates. Label Operators must have a basic knowledge of how to set up, operate and maintain manufacturing machinery and equipment. Must obtain a basic knowledge of visual and dimensional inspection techniques. Adheres to company safety, conduct, and sanitation policies and follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) in all areas of responsibility. Follows established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s). Responsible for efficiently operating and maintaining assigned production line equipment. **Employee Type:** Full time **Location:** TX San Antonio **Job Type:** Production Group **Job Posting Title:** Label Machine Operator (2nd Shift) **Job Description:** **Schedule:** Monday through Friday with Saturdays as needed:  *2nd Shift: 2:30pm - 11:00pm  *3rd Shift: 10:30pm - 6:00pm **Work Location:** 5310 Historic Old Hwy 90, San Antonio, TX 78227 **Benefits** : Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k) with match, STD/LTD/AD&D/Life, HSA, FSA, EAP, Hospital indemnity, Accident Insurance, Identity and Fraud Protection Plan, Legal, and Critical Illness. **Salary, based on experience and other qualifications:**  *2nd Shift: $22.50 per hour, plus $0.75 shift differential  *3rd Shift: $22.50 per hour, plus $1.50 shift differential **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:** + Complies with good manufacturing practices. + Maintains accurate records (i.e. assigned label operator paperwork). + Supports quality system. + Maintains communication within production team member ensuring smooth shift transitions, etc. + Monitors packaging materials, supplies to ensure efficient production in the area identifying bad or damaged materials prior to usage. + Ensure adequate supply of packaging materials and communicate resource requirements for replenishment. + Determine acceptable quality ranges on packaging (i.e. bad jar codes, torn or damaged label application, excessive glue, bad or damaged film, etc.). + Communicates with affected Team members on changeovers, downtime, etc. + Participate, and sometimes lead, daily operations meetings (shift huddle and employee hand off). + Responsible for startup and shut down on production line. + Monitor seals, caps, and general packaging of product. + Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operating difficulties. + Ensure that the proper packaging materials are used for each product being produced. + Ability to perform changeovers in a safe and efficient manner. + Prepare equipment for next run to include size changes as needed on all assigned equipment. + Complete required paperwork and checklists, as required. + Capable of efficient and timely start up for production runs. + Capable of trouble shooting assigned equipment during production runs. + Complete required documentation (time checks and sign off sheets) in an accurate and timely manner. + Perform line checks and testing as required. + Assist line associates to attain performance criteria as it relates to Safety, Quality and Productivity. + Respond to changes on packaging to assist line associates and maintain efficiencies. + Performs other tasks as requested by Supervisor. + Updates performance boards as required. + Effectively operates all assigned equipment in packaging of Line 2. **EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:** + Willingness to work weekends and overtime when required + Able to read, write and speak English + May be assigned to work in extremely cold or hot conditions. + Most positions are located in areas with loud noise and will require the employee to wear protective ear plugs. + Other conditions include dust, wet floors, occasional smoke and fumes from cleaning chemicals (chorine). + Main activities will be walking, lifting, standing, sitting, bending, pulling, pushing, reaching and climbing.
