Job Title: Lab Technician
Job Description

The Lab Technician is responsible for breeding, raising, and caring for small research animals. This role involves following proper breeding and animal care procedures, monitoring animal behavior and physical attributes to ensure their health, and confirming the appropriate phenotype. The technician will report any findings, ensure biosecurity, and coordinate with customer service on scheduling and order status. This position requires basic animal husbandry and involves physical activity, including standing for extended periods and climbing stairs.

ResponsibilitiesBreed and raise small research animals following established procedures.Ensure proper animal care and monitor behavior and physical attributes.Report any findings related to animal health and phenotype confirmation.Ensure biosecurity measures are strictly followed.Coordinate with customer service regarding scheduling and order status.Perform basic animal husbandry tasks.Utilize tablet computers for various tasks.Maintain strict compliance with animal welfare standards.Essential SkillsAnimal care and husbandrySterilization techniquesAnimal health monitoringVeterinary knowledgeLaboratory proceduresAnimal science expertiseAnimal handling and researchAdditional Skills & QualificationsHigh School diploma or GED required; BS or Associate's degree preferred.Previous experience working with animals preferred.Two to four years of related experience and/or training.Strong attention to detail.Ability to work with tablet computers.Work Environment

The position is based in the animal care department, working the 1st shift with some flexibility on start time. The typical schedule is Monday through Thursday, 6am to 3:30pm, with a shorter day on Friday. This role involves a business professional environment, requiring physical activity such as standing for long periods and climbing stairs. The dress code is business professional.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.25 - $21.25/hr.
