MVDL exists as a bureau within the Animal Health and Food Safety Division of the Montana Department of Livestock, and is a full-service, American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (AAVLD)-accredited veterinary diagnostic laboratory. The laboratory performs approximately 170,000 tests per year on a wide variety of domestic and non-domestic animal species. For more information on the laboratory, please contact: mvdl@mt.gov . We seek applicants with demonstrated interest and expertise in overseeing a Quality Management System. The MVDL Lab Quality Manager is expected to oversee the control systems necessary to ensure that information generated by the Laboratory is generated in accordance with AAVLD guidelines. This position will serve as point person for all laboratory quality assurance issues. This individual is expected to work independently for routine matters and reports to the Laboratory Director. The candidate will also engage in client communication with submitting veterinarians and/or livestock producers to follow up and resolve issues related to complaints and/or nonconforming work. The MVDL is a relatively small diagnostic lab, but is poised for growth, with multiple current and upcoming advances in client service and outreach. The Department of Livestock is currently constructing a new, state of the art diagnostic laboratory building adjacent to our current location on the campus of MSU that will significantly enhance the lab’s biosecurity and functionality. The Bozeman area is consistently ranked among the most desirable places to live in the nation.
