Responsibilities Generates pathology reports from Pathologists' dictation including performance of transcription, coding, billing and final reports. Ensure results reported timely. Prepares specimens/reports for send out and ensures appropriate testing is complete.Assists with the smooth operations of the department and ensures quality patient experiences by interaction with pathologists and other medical staff, laboratory staff, other departments throughout the organization, and other organizations. Develops and maintains effective working relationships and provides superior customer service with staff, providers, and other departments. Serves as a role model and resource person for providing quality patient care and patient information as needed.Responsible for the daily workflow and clerical duties of the office: Maintains a clean, functional environment. Performs basic maintenance of office equipment and coordinates needed maintenance for prompt repairs. Assists in the resolution of operational issues and conflicts in a prompt and efficient manner.Assists in maintaining office policies and procedures in accordance with Laboratory and Pathologist requirements, facility and system policies and procedures, standard practices of the profession, and related regulatory requirements from accrediting agencies.Assists in training and orientation of new employees.Provides Laboratory and Pathology department office administrative support and coordination as well as any other duties as assigned. 

Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Foundation Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.

Qualifications

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.


Requires a level of knowledge and ability normally demonstrated by at least two years of experience in a physician's office or medical environment, to include extensive knowledge of medical terminology. Must be able to type a minimum of 50 words per minute. 


Requires excellent communication, organizational, problem solving, follow through, and quality assurance skills with high accuracy, attention to detail, and adaptability. Ability to prioritize and work under pressure with multiple
deadlines.


Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


Associate's degree preferred.

 

Additional related Laboratory/Pathology education and/or experience.

 

Experience with Medical Transcription or Pathology Transcription preferred.

 

Medical Billing/Coding experience preferred.
