Lab Manager
Job Title: Lab Manager Job Description As the Lab Manager, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our laboratory. Your role will involve overseeing the testing, analysis, and quality control processes to ensure that all products meet the highest standards of excellence. You will lead a team of laboratory technicians and work closely with other departments to support the company's production goals. Responsibilities + Oversee the daily operations of the laboratory, ensuring all tests and analyses are conducted accurately and efficiently. + Responsible for analysis and control of metal finishing solutions. + Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results. + Oversee and maintain inventory of chemicals for production and lab and coordinate with the purchasing department the requirements. + Responsible for maintaining temperature, pH, and chemistry of the plating baths by regular analytical testing. + Oversee and schedule regular tank maintenance. + Coordinate with production new tank make-up, chemical, and anode requirements based on production needs. + Ensure all products meet the highest quality standards and customer specifications. + Conduct regular quality control tests and analyze results to identify any deviations from standards. + Collaborate with the production and quality team to address any quality issues, initiate Non-conformances, and implement corrective actions. + Support the Waste Treatment Operator as needed. + Ensure all laboratory activities are conducted in accordance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements. + Ensure the appropriate PPE is used by all employees while handling chemicals. + Conduct regular safety audits and address any identified hazards. + Stay current with industry regulations and standards to ensure compliance. + Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of laboratory technicians. + Foster a positive work environment that encourages collaboration and continuous learning. + Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members. Essential Skills + BS in chemistry or related field. + CEF (Certified Electroplater Finishing) or CAF (Certified Aerospace Finishing) certification ideal. + 1-2 years of managerial experience within a manufacturing or plating environment. + Understanding of wet chemical analysis - pH, conductivity, acid-bases, EDTA, redox, and argentometric analyses. + Previous experience with AS9100 quality management system (QMS) a plus. + Experience conducting internal audits and interpreting audit results. + Knowledge of plating processes and techniques. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data management software. Additional Skills & Qualifications + CEF or CAF certifications are a big plus. + Metal plating experience is a huge plus. + Experience with EDTA, redox, and argentometric analyses. + Previous experience working with AS9100 quality management systems within a manufacturing environment. Work Environment This is a 1st shift position with working hours from 7 am to 3:30 pm. You will have 3-4 direct reports, including 2 lab technicians and 1-2 quality technicians. The work environment is industrial. You will have your own office space but will be required to enter the lab, production floor, and office for documentation purposes. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $38.46/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
