Performs various laboratory procedures. **Responsibilities:** + Assists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing, transporting and storing specimens. + Operates laboratory equipment and performs routine instrument maintenance, troubleshooting and minor repairs. + Performs quality assurance activities. + Maintains adequate stock of supplies and manages the inventory by transporting and distributing supplies. Other duties as assigned. **Education:** + High School Diploma or GED. **Certifications:** + None required. **Complexity of Work:** + Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. + Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. **Work Experience:** + Requires three months on-the-job training to learn department laboratory procedures, instrumentation and CCF policies. **Physical Requirements:** + Requires manual dexterity and visual acuity when handling specimens and utilizing instrumentation. + Ability to safely handle potentially infectious patient specimens, carcinogenic substances, odorous and other hazardous materials to which they may be exposed. + Requires frequent sitting or standing. **Personal Protective Equipment:** + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
