Role Information
The Core of the learning function is integral to the success of the L&D team and the organisation in general. It covers the key programmes and solutions the whole group leverages, the efficient co-ordination and delivery of L&D programmes and policies through our learning system, and a robust, modern approach to measurement and evaluation to generate actionable insight and continuous improvement across the team and right across the business. With Core Learning working effectively, the whole function can deliver value to the business.
As Howden continues along an exciting growth journey the importance of getting these core activities right, wherever an employee sits in the organisation is more essential than ever. And L&D Manager – Core Learning, will play a key role in delivering this vision.
This role offers a real mix of challenges; from working with key stakeholders to develop and put in place plans for the future of key programmes, collaborating as you establish approaches and ways of working from scratch. All the way through to designing and delivering digital and in-person sessions that wow participants, leaving them supported and motivated to embed new skills into their work
Key Responsibilities include:
Partnering with business stakeholders to take ownership for the L&D aspects of the end-to-end onboarding and induction making sure the experience delights new joiners and sets them up for success. Working with our business units to find the right mix of global and local activityTake the lead for delivering a comprehensive, modern approach to compliance and regulatory L&D solutions which effectively balance the legal need to ‘demonstrate compliance’ with the business need to change and adopt the behaviours for sustained successManage the day-to-day relationship with our partners in shared services, making sure that co-ordination and administration of L&D activity is effectively managed. Making effective use of our Learning System to deliver an efficient and simple experience for employees to engage with usTake the lead with overseeing our usage of the Apprenticeship Levy in the UK, as well as other professional qualifications. Working with our business units to agree and embed a consistent approach which delivers value to our employees and our organisationWork with colleagues in L&D, HRIS, HR and in business units, develop and embed a robust, scalable approach to measurement and insight generation to help keep L&D activity commercially focused and impactfulDesign and develop other programmes and solutions for building global skills and behaviours across the business, supporting the development and success of our Howden AcademiesWork with the L&D Lead and wider internal and external stakeholders to utilise the apprenticeship levy that aligns to and supports our wider sustainability strategyProduce insightful and compelling storyboards to educate and influence senior stakeholdersPerson specification / experience
A strong L&D background, combining modern, blended, learning methods with the achievement of business outcomesA record of delivering successful projects and solutions in a matrixed, international organisationA high level of competence in all parts of the L&D cycle, from Needs Analysis to design, develop, facilitate and evaluate.Experience in developing and using measurement and evaluation strategies that extend beyond Kirkpatrick and Phillips. Using information and data to deliver actionable insightVery strong stakeholder management skillsThe ability to operate with a global mindset but with the flexibility to adapt approaches to meet the needs of all our entitiesA strong communicator, able to present and influence ideas at all levels of the business, building strong and trusting relationshipsFinancial Services experience very beneficial particularly with the compliance aspect of this roleCan-do attitude, solution focused and growth mindsetExcellent Communications skills (written & spoken)What do we offer in return?A career that you define.
