Job Summary:

Global Bio-Pharmaceutical company seeks passionate and experienced Key Account Managers with Ophthalmology experience to join their growing team and prepare for an exciting new product launch. We require KAMs based in either the northern and the southern regions of the UK (which will include London) as we need cover for both. These roles will be on an initial 12 month fixed term contract.

The primary responsibility of the Key Account Manager is to collaborate with key opinion leaders to facilitate formulary adoption and foster advocacy among these leaders. You will achieve sales targets through the implementation of sales, marketing and market access strategies to launch and grow sales by working cross-functionally with market access, marketing, medical, and commercial teams.

You will develop, implement and maintain a strategic business plan for your region and become the primary point of contact for Key Opinion Leaders, Healthcare Professionals, Specialists and all related stakeholders.

You will possess a deep understanding of the complete patient journey, and your focus will be on effectively communicating the benefits and value of this new treatment option with the goal of driving adoption and increasing market share.

The ability to implement growth tactics based on solid customer insights and commercial benefit assessment. This will include presenting, preparing, and delivering impactful presentations including insights, results, outcomes and action plans to key stakeholders.

You must ensure that the key needs of the customer are understood, and strategies are developed and aligned that deliver demonstrable business benefit, whilst anticipating and identifying opportunities or issues that may affect business performance or supply chain demands. You will foster long-term relationships with healthcare professionals, including ophthalmic and retina specialists, to facilitate informed treatment discussions and decisions.

Key responsibilities include:

• Maintain an excellent knowledge of the local health environment as well as an understanding of key national healthcare drivers and policies

• Ensure high levels of local intelligence to uncover opportunities

• Work with the wider commercial organisation utilising all available cross-functional resources to develop and execute specific commercial strategies

• Ensure the product is successfully listed on the relevant formularies and protocols

• Identify, engage, and nurture relationships with key opinion leaders, clinical managers, specialists and budget holders in the ophthalmology field to establish advocacy for the new treatment.

• Facilitate KOL-led initiatives, including advisory boards, workshops, and training sessions, to enhance product awareness and application.

• Enhance patient care and help achieve business objectives by planning and delivering cohesive clinical and commercial discussions across the account, resulting in local agreements between payers and prescribers

• Development of strong contact matrix and stakeholder contact strategy

• Develop & maintain a thorough understanding of the marketplace to inform planning and revenue forecasting

• Develop and progress a pipeline of new opportunities to support volume and share growth

• Provide insights to support demand planning and supply chain management

• Development of reports & metrics that drive market insight

• Effectively and professionally represent the client’s brand and objectives

• Resolve customer queries in a professional and efficient way to maintain confidence

• Ensure all administration is clear, correct and in line with agreed procedures

• Communicate and liaise effectively and efficiently with all other departments

Key skills and experience:

• Advanced level ABPI Qualification

• University degree in science, life sciences or business; graduate studies in management is an asset.

• Brand/Commercial Marketing experience an asset.

• Proven secondary care sales experience with a good working knowledge of local approval processes and protocol development

• Demonstrable Key Account Management experience

• Highly competent in analytical analysis and business acumen

• Sound Pharma and NHS knowledge

• Dynamic, commercially aware, action-focused, accountable and confident of the value that Pharma brings to patients

• Desire to improve continually, seek coaching and challenge the status quo

• Good analytical skills and ability to utilise sales data to make timely decisions

• Experience of formulary and patient pathways within Ophthalmology

• Brand/Commercial Marketing experience an asset.

• Ability to balance short term needs and long-term vision.

• Ability to analyse and define and convey complex concepts and strategies in verbal and written communication to demanding audiences (internal and external).

• Strong interpersonal skills required as well as excellent communication and presentation skills.

• Demonstrated ability to analyse data and market trends to inform strategic decisions.

• Experience in managing relationships with KOLs and driving advocacy initiatives.
