Job Description
This role involves working with both cats and dogs, focusing on their care without any customer interaction. You will be part of a team responsible for maintaining the facility and ensuring the well-being of the animals.
ResponsibilitiesMaintain kennels and facility areas.Ensure the facility is organized, sanitized, and free of odors.Feed cats and dogs on a schedule.Ensure animals have access to clean water.Use provided pet toys to play and socialize with animals.Bathe and groom animals.Prepare pet food for scheduled feedings.Weigh leftover food and dispose of it accordingly.Maintain documentation on dogs and cats and update this information as needed.Maintain a supportive and collaborative environment.Provide exceptional animal care.Essential SkillsExperience with animal research, handling, and science.Experience around large groups of animals is preferred.Demonstrated experience with jobs involving standing and cleaning duties is highly preferred.Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.High school diploma required.Six months or more of animal care experience in a veterinary environment, kennel, or shelter is strongly preferred.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in environments such as farms, groomers, pet stores, shelters, humane societies, vet clinics, vet hospitals, or in animal husbandry and breeding.Vivarium and husbandry experience.Veterinary experience.Work Environment
It is a team-oriented environment where everyone is expected to contribute equally. You will be exposed to varying outdoor temperatures year-round and will need to stay active, often walking over 10,000 steps a day. The role requires rotating schedules, including weekends and holidays, but you will not work both Christmas and Thanksgiving consecutively. The company remains operational during inclement weather, and staff may need to stay on-site under such conditions.
