Compensation: $100,000 - $125,000 / year
Description
The Controller is responsible for all accounting functions including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cost Accounting, Fixed Assets, General Ledger, Payroll and Cash Management for KCSD.
Key Responsibilities
+ Drive timely, accurate and complete submission of all financial data including annual budgeting of income statement and balance sheet, quarterly forecasting and monthly actual financials; understanding and explaining variances in actual performance to budgets and forecast to all levels of Management as well as advising on actions to achieve improved results.
+ Work with Plant Management teams to monitor and control expenses, identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as required.
+ Track, validate and report cost savings and value creation projects to drive continuous cost improvements.
+ Business partner with Plant Operations teams to ensure transparency with key business managers in a continuously changing business environment.
+ Work closely with Operations on product costing valuations ensuring they have the necessary information to make the appropriate decision to ensure successful growth.
+ Responsible for monitoring and controlling Working Capital as well as identifying and implementing initiatives for improvement.
+ Maintain a control environment which functions with no surprises. Ensure timely and accurate completion of account reconciliations.
+ Manage all Financial and Sox audits performed by internal and external auditors as well as Government Agencies.
+ Ensure compliance with all Company, Accounting and Government Standards, Policies and Regulations.
+ Responsible for various Tax reporting.
+ Manage professionals engaged in Financial/Accounting activities at the San Diego location.
+ Some travel required may be required (<10%).
+ Conducts other duties as needed.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
· Five to eight years’ experience in a senior accounting or financial analyst capacity and must have a demonstrated history of performing the responsibilities listed below.
· All applicants must be eligible to work in the US without restriction to ITAR documentation and materials. Must be a US citizen, legal permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Preferred:
· A strong background in Cost Accounting in a manufacturing environment with two years of experience as a Plant Controller.
· CPA, CMA and/or MBA as well as Oracle experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Controller manages a small local finance staff.

One element in our total compensation package is base pay. The starting salary for this role is targeted to be between $100,000 and $125,000 annually.
Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to previous experience and skills acquired prior to joining Knowles, cost of living in the assigned work location, assigned schedule, and salaries of similarly situated peers at the company.
