**Junior Substation Civil Engineer**
**Job Summary**
POWER Engineers, member of WSP is seeking an energetic, self-starting team member with a strong civil engineering design background to perform engineering design activities for electrical substations. This position is in the Power Delivery Substation Department of our Freeport, Maine office. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (employee will need to live within driving distance of the office).
**Roles and Responsibilities**
+ All aspects of substation civil design including permitting support, site design, foundation design, structure design, and control building design
+ Development of civil construction specifications, cost estimates, engineering proposals and project schedules
+ Support of substation physical design with bus analysis calculations and coordinating with multiple disciplines on results
+ Preparation of calculation packages to satisfy client and code requirements
+ Understand and incorporate typical structural code requirements
+ Coordination with all disciplines contributing to electrical substation design
+ Preparation of calculation packages to satisfy client and code requirements
+ Occasional travel will be required
**Required Education/Experience**
+ BSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering) degree from an accredited college
+ Ability to perform basic civil engineering tasks
+ Ability to independently create calculation packages
+ Mechanical reasoning skills and attention to detail
+ Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam, or the ability to complete the FE exam within one year
+ A strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
+ Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
**Desired Education/Experience**
+ Three (3) or more years of civil design experience
+ Experience in electric utility substation design (15kV through 500kV) is a plus
+ Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation, RISA, MatchCAD, LPile, and Civil 3D are beneficial
+ Geotechnical background is a plus
+ Professional Engineering license (PE) or the ability to obtain licensure and ability to obtain licensure in multiple states
+ Ability to successfully participate in multiple projects concurrently and manager budgets and schedules
