Hours: Full Time- 35 Hours

Only candidates who are currently probable permanent in the Civil Engineering Intern title, or those who are reachable on the Open-Competitive Exam #2009, or those who filed for the Open-Competitive Exam #5047 may apply. The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Public Buildings Division, Architecture & Engineering-Engineering Unit seeks a Civil Engineer Intern. Under general supervision, the duties for this position will include, but not be limited to assisting with: project scoping, design and/or review of consultant drawings and specifications (utilizing Blue-Beam), site inspections, generating reports, ad hoc technical investigations; in-house design (utilizing AutoCAD and BIM) and providing support services for client-agency projects. Duties may also include assisting with the review and development of drawings, writing specifications and preparation of estimates of quantities; checking shop drawings; performing mechanical engineering calculations, condition assessments, and feasibility reports; participating in inspection operations by observing, checking and certifying the installation of materials and equipment, and reviewing or examining plans for the construction, demolition or alteration of structures to comply with the provisions of law, rule or regulation. The selected candidate will also interface with clients, consultants, contractors, and other technical staff.
Please note the following update to the Minimum Qualification Requirements:
1. A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university; or
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering technology and
two years of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work.

Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college. A degree in any other engineering area or in civil engineering technology is not acceptable.
