This opportunity offers a full-time career-oriented position with our growing and dynamic team of civil and municipal infrastructure professionals. In this role, you’ll have the ability to collaborate seamlessly with EXP’s multidisciplinary team in Sydney Nova Scotia, within the region and across the company on some of Atlantic Canada’s largest and most exciting projects!
Your Role & Responsibilities:
Demonstrate and develop expertise in civil design for new infrastructure and existing infrastructure rehabilitations. Assist with the promotion of engineering services to existing and potential customers. Assist in the preparation of proposals. Participate in the management of projects from initiation through to project closeout. Technical role: Municipal infrastructure design & implementation of civil/municipal infrastructure projects involving site grading, site development, street reconstruction, water distribution, wastewater collection, stormwater management, parking, and active transportation. Assist in the preparation of construction specifications, drawings, tender documents, and technical reports. Assist with budget management and hands-on coordination with colleagues for project execution, including cost estimating/monitoring, control and scheduling of projects and communication with the client. Participate in contractor relations for projects going through the tendering and construction phases. Learn and assist with project management including client liaison, technical reviews, and preparation of specifications/bid documents, contract administration and construction reviews. Act as EXP’s on-site liaison between contractor, municipal client, and public while providing engineering review of construction, including field design where required.Qualifications & Experience:
University degree in Civil Engineering. EIT or P.Eng. designation, or the ability to obtain the designation. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment, managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Willingness to work both outside and in an office environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as advanced technical writing abilities. Strong computer skills using word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics applications such as MS Word, Excel, AutoCAD, GIS. Proficient problem-solving skills. Previous on-site construction oversight experience considered an asset.What EXP Can Offer:
