Junior Accountant - Part time or Full time

Junior Accountant (Part-time or Full-time)

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Junior Accountant will be a key member of Ocular’s Accounting & Reporting and Finance team. The Junior Accountant’s responsibilities are comprised of various aspects within accounting and finance operations, with a focus on accounts payable and the procure-to-pay process. To be able to accomplish this, the Junior Accountant should be a highly organized and proactive individual with a strong attention to detail. The Junior Accountant should enjoy working in a fast-paced and rapidly growing environment.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Assist with the processing of vendor invoices from receipt to approval in the Company’s automated AP processing application and/or alternative manual process, including three-way-matching, resolving inaccuracies in account coding, following up with approvers, etc. Ensure timely payment of vendor invoices by assisting with the weekly payment process Reconcile vendor statements to ensure completeness, existence and accuracy of the Company’s accounts payable Review open purchase orders to determine the Company’s open commitments and to ensure completeness of accruals Maintain complete vendor records, including W-9 Forms, and assist with the preparation of the annual Form-1099 reporting Interact directly with vendors and internal stakeholders as needed Process employee expense reports Prepare and/or assist with preparing accounting documentation such as journal entries and account reconciliations for certain accounting areas of the monthly and quarterly close process, including prepaid expenses and accruals Support other members of the Accounting & Reporting and Finance Team by building knowledge in other general accounting areas and serving as a utility player and backup Assist with the quarterly reviews and annual audit, conducted under PCAOB requirements, by providing supporting documents as requested by the Company’s external auditors Assist with special or ad-hoc projects as well as other accounting & reporting and finance related matters as necessary

Qualification Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an accounting- or business-related field preferred. Work experience, preferably in the life sciences industry and/or in a public company may substitute for the education requirement provided that the candidate demonstrates a similar level of knowledge and skills Must be a self-starter and take initiative Strong organizational skills with a great deal of attention to detail and meeting deadlines Strong Microsoft Office skills Collaborative and consultative team player who can thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
