The Gist

Primarily responsible for grain transportation to the brewery and assisting in loading at the grain yard. This role will also assist with warehousing activities when there is less need in the grain yard.

 

What You’ll Do

Responsible for assisting in the pickup, transportation and daily delivery of multiple loads of grain to brewery. Required to operate multiple types of equipment to offload grain from railcar at point of pick up and upon delivery including: generator forklift high lift grain conveyor air compressor tractor etc Monitors fill levels of trailer to ensure it reaches maximized levels with minimal grain loss. Prepares trailer for transportation and provides timed deliveries to the brewery to keep grain silos full. Timely delivery of product and return to warehouse by keeping to dispatch schedule and maintaining efficient routing system. Maneuvers and controls the vehicle in a safe fashion during the daytime or nighttime, which includes: proper signaling searching for hazards controlling speed lane positioning matching speeds to road conditions (wet, dry, snow, or ice) Maintains accurate records and logs for transportation of product and vehicle maintenance (pre-post inspection & log book). Reports any vehicle deficiencies to Warehouse Manager. Keeps the interior and exterior of cab clean. Responsible for routine fueling. Obtains customer signature for product delivered and returns completed purchase order to warehouse as required. Other duties as assigned (based on volume of deliveries), to include: Assisting with warehouse picking or organization

 

What We’re Lookin’ For

Driving requirements:

Must show valid proof of insurance, have a good driving record and maintain a current valid California commercial driver’s license; license must be a Class A. Minimum of 1 years’ experience driving commercial trucks. Completion of a creditable CDL training school or truck driving school is desired. Must be at least 25 years of age. Experience driving, backing-up, and maneuvering multi-rear axle trucks into tight loading docks, in heavy traffic, and down narrow streets. Must have general maintenance knowledge multi-rear of axle trucks meeting the requirements for California Commercial Driver’s Licensing; must be able to perform pre & post trip inspections and properly fill out DOT log book. Proficient in Federal and State Trucking and safety laws and regulations. Understand air brake systems of transportation vehicle. Knowledge of weight distribution between axles to comply with weight limitations. Demonstrate the ability to obey highway traffic regulations, and deliver product in a timely manner and on schedule. Must be able to safely move a grain rail car for positioning.

 

Other requirements:

Experience in operating forklifts and hand lifts to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving platform to storage or work area. Must be able to work flexible shifts and schedules, including weekends, holidays, and overtime. Must have prior Forklift certification or experience operating a Forklift. Must be able to safely operate various types of equipment including generator, mobile lighting system, mobile stair access platform, high lift grain conveyor, grain trailer unloading system and tractor/trailer combination. Ability to communicate with employees professionally and effectively in Warehouse, Brewing and other departments. Strong problem solving skills and ability to work independently and within a team.

 

Key Relationships

Directly reports to the Warehouse Manager but works closely with Brewing management team.

 

Physical Stuff

Must be able to successfully pass a Department Of Transportation (DOT) physical examination pre hire and every two years thereafter according to DOT regulations. Must participate and pass a Past Employment Drug & Alcohol Background Check. Must enroll in DOT required drug & alcohol testing program. Must be able to sit for long periods of time, steering, shifting, & driving large vehicle. Must be able to stand, walk, lift, and bend. Physical requirement needed to lift 35 lb. cases, 165 lb. kegs and various point of sales boxes on a periodic basis. Must be able to stand, walk, lift and bend repeatedly throughout shift. Must be able to tolerate outside summer/winter temperatures and inclement weather conditions.
