BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for a “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as Motor Controls Engineer for HV power electronics as part of the systems engineering competency at our Luxembourg Technical Center (TCL) in Bascharage or Nuremberg Tech Center in Germany.
You will be responsible for the conceptual and detailed design, analysis, modelling/simulation, documentation, and integration, test and tuning of electric machine controls algorithms on BorgWarner HV power electronics products.
Key responsibilities
Work with the BorgWarner systems engineers and project team to ensure the proper decomposition, allocation and documentation of controls requirements into hardware and software Develop optimized electric machine controls algorithms and techniques utilizing balanced requirements to meet schedule, technical and cost constraints Perform the desk top computer modelling, simulation and optimization of electric machine controls Execute the laboratory Hardware-in-the Loop and dynamometer test/characterization, tuning and verification of machine controls requirements Support BorgWarner product development team with technical design analysis, trade-off studies, design reviews and customer presentations Focal point for machine controls design technical discussions with cross-competency team, management and customers using highly effective communication and facilitation skills and techniques Determine best techniques/procedure and apply for analysis, design, or experimental procedures Document and share best-practicesWhat we’re looking for
Master’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or similarExperience in electric machine controls Experience with Internal Permanent Magnet (IPM) and/or AC induction First experience in development and implementation of electric machine controls for Induction, Interior Permanent Magnet, Wound Field Synchronous, and Surface Permanent Magnet electric machines Knowledge on sensorless motor control is a benefit Solid knowledge in MATLAB and Simulink modelling Simulation of poly-phase electric machine controls and modulation techniques is preferrable Good Knowledge in C-coding is a benefit Understanding of vector control, various PWM schemes and flux observers Strong mathematical background, analytical skills and statistical skills Ability to solve problems efficiently and effectively Ability & Willingness to travel 10% domestically and/or internationally Excellent oral and written communication skills in English language, French and German is a benefit Automotive Experience preferred Experienced in classic control theory and modern control theory preferred Fast and motivated learner and team playerWhat we offer
