Job Duties/Responsibilities
Work within a team to provide person-centered career exploration and engagement; job development and competitive employment placement; and, employment supports to individuals with ID/DD, physical disabilities, and/or acquired brain injuries
Career Exploration & Engagement
1. Review referral packets and assessments to ascertain career readiness.
2. Review career interest inventories, skill assessments, and job assessments for current job seekers within the program to determine career interests
3. Organize and/or facilitate career exploration activities for individuals
4. Document attendance and competencies acquired by individuals.
5. Document progress with individuals on job development and placement with employment supports team.
Job Development & Placement
1. Search for competitive placement opportunities within region through cold calls, community mapping, and networking.
2. Develop competitive employment opportunities which meet the career interests of individuals supported.
3. Work with employers to make ADA accommodations when required.
4. Develop partnerships with employers to assist with career exploration and engagement opportunities.
5. In collaboration with employers, provide training and guidance to facilitate natural supports.
6. In collaboration with employments supports team, individuals and families/guardians, work with individuals to assess employment and job benefits.
Employment Supports (As needed)
1. Provide training and supervision as required to ensure work-based skills are acquired.
2. Provide vocational training when the employer assigns new tasks to an individual.
3. Assist individuals in maintaining quality job performance, consistent with employer expectations.
4. Maintain quality standards of employers by modeling appropriate adherence to policies and procedures of companies.
5. Work closely and cooperatively with company managers and/or supervisors.
6. Follow policies and procedures of specific companies.
7. Participate in individual evaluations and monthly progress updates as assigned.
8. Facilitate opportunities for individuals’ integration and use of natural supports.
9. Provide appropriate assistance to ensure the safety and mobility of individuals at their jobs.
10. Intervene in crisis situations as needed or assigned.
11. Promptly identify the need for resources to address behavior modification techniques and implementation strategies in conjunction with the community business to ensure needed supports are in place.
12. Assist individuals and employers to develop natural supports. Assist with helping the employer to integrate and include the individual into fun work events, training, and culture.
Data Collection
1. Maintain complete and current records according to BAMSI, funder and employer policies.
2. Submit required documentation for billing as required by BAMSI and funder.
Coordination of efforts within Employment Services
1. Participate in scheduled meetings and trainings.
2. Attend staff meetings as required.
3. Attend Individual Support Plan meetings as assigned.
4. Share client information in a timely fashion with the team so that services can be coordinated and effective.
5. Execute duties to reflect reasonable safety standards. Universal/standard precautions must be utilized and training obtained in areas that constitute risk.
6. Perform duties consistent with agency/program policies and procedures.
7. Perform other related work duties as needed or as assigned by supervisor or designee.
Job Requirements
· A demonstrated ability to make appropriate, accurate judgments including handling of emergency situations, and the mental and physical ability to successfully perform job duties and responsibilities.
· The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with persons served, families, service providers, and case managers
· Demonstrated ability to set limits, to solve problems independently, and to appropriately protect confidential information.
· Demonstrated ability to monitor and report on a participant’s progress, challenges and status verbally or in writing as required.
· Demonstrated ability to interpret vocational rehabilitation evaluations and individual service plans and to conduct situational assessments
· Demonstrated understanding of the employment rights of individuals with disabilities
· Demonstrated ability to market and outreach to employers.
· Demonstrated knowledge of Assistive Technology regarding Job Accommodations
· Demonstrated ability to conduct On the Job Task Analysis and provide positive reinforcement and On the Job employment supports.
Education/Licensure Requirements
· High school diploma or equivalency.
· At least two years of life or work experience providing services to individuals with disabilities.
· Basic computer literacy, including the ability to record data, use electronic time and attendance software and receive and send electronic mail, as needed and required.
· A valid driver's license in state of residence and own means of transportation (appropriately registered and insured) is required to travel and transport training materials to occasional off-site training locations.
