Responsibilities:
Minimize and mitigate service interruptions and degradationsResponsive environment issue resolution across time zones -  unblock global development teams when they have an environment issueTimely deployments of new applications - maintaining an agile docker based process for most applications, whilst also supporting resource intensive system components such as Kafka and Cassandra.Proactive stack maintenance - Regularly seek and proactively resolve problems that haven’t yet shown up on a graphProactive patching & security support - Regularly run patch & security reports; ensure any issues are addressedEnvironment Testing Automation - Create/Implement and run environment tests and fire drills, share learnings to improve stability/scalability and securityDisaster Recovery - Create/Implement and run disaster recovery plans and fire drills, share learnings to improve stability/scalability and securitySkill Set Required:
Operating & supporting CI/CD/CT pipelines at scaleUnderstanding and ensuring best practice security when handling sensitive personal informationUbuntu administration and management (additional Redhat knowledge would be a positive)Enterprise AWS deploymentUse of Cloud FormationUsing ELBs and ASGs to deploy high availability/high resilience environmentsKnowledge and experience using Chef or Puppet automation to deploy and manage Linux systems in production and CI environments.Knowledge and practical experience of Jenkins for CIDeployment of bespoke software from Continuous IntegrationExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalExperience of deploying JVM based applicationsPerformance monitoring and optimization of JVM applications using tools such as JvisualVMIPSEC , OpenVPN & PKIImplementing secure communication channels between systemsCertificate management in heterogeneous environmentsKnowledge of Cassandra and Kafka or RabbitMQ systems and maintenanceMesos infrastructure admin knowledge a plus.
