PURPOSE
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s Solutions Architect will focus on specific solutions and projects for TAMU-CC’s organizational needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable, efficient, and secure technology solutions to meet project's requirements and will program on / against individual systems or applications, ensuring they align with business needs and technical constraints. The Solutions Architect positions require a deep understanding of TAMU-CC’s enterprise systems, integration strategies, and cloud technologies within a public. This position will report to the Director of Enterprise Solutions working alongside a Project Management team consisting of a Project Manager, Business Analysis Manager and Software Development Manager to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality IT design, delivery and solutions that support the university's mission.
DESCRIPTION
Solution & Design Architecture (40%)
+ Strategic Design: Analyze institutional needs and design IT solutions that align with organizational objectives, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
+ Documentation: Develop and maintain architectural diagrams, technical specifications, and integration plans.
+ Collaboration: Work closely with Business Analysts, Application Developers, Data Warehouse specialists, and stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
+ Standards and Best Practices: Establish and promote architectural standards, coding guidelines, and technology best practices.
+ Evaluation of Tools: Research, evaluate, and recommend software and tools for adoption within the institution.
+ Process Mapping: Develop and document technical process maps to define system workflows, data interactions, and integration points, ensuring alignment with application development requirements and supporting efficient solution implementation.
Software Development (40%)
+ Application Programming: Develop, test, and deploy software solutions, including enhancements to existing applications and custom-built systems.
+ AI Investigation: Research, evaluate, and recommend AI-driven solutions to streamline and enhance the applications development lifecycle, including areas such as code generation, testing automation, and error detection, ensuring alignment with the institution's technical standards and strategic goals
+ Integration: Build and maintain system integrations to support seamless data flow across platforms.
+ Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve software defects, system issues, and performance bottlenecks.
+ Quality Assurance: Perform code reviews, write unit tests, and ensure adherence to coding standards.
Technical Guidance & Mentorship (10%)
+ Mentorship: Provide architectural oversight and mentorship to technical teams, ensuring best practices in solution implementation.
+ Organizational Change Management: Serve as a technical liaison between IT and academic/business units, translating complex technical concepts into accessible terms for stakeholders.
+ Project Management: Participate in project planning, including scope definition, timelines, and resource allocation
+ Documentation: Develop and maintain architectural diagrams, technical specifications, and integration plans.
Other (10%)
+ Proactively learn and utilize new technologies, concepts, and procedures as appropriate to project requirements.
+ Adheres to internal controls established for department.
+ Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
+ Bachelor’s degree in applicable field.
+ Ten years of related experience.
+ Knowledge of data integration, SaaS solutions, enterprise software applications and organizational change management.
+ Knowledge, skill and abilities in Oracle, SQL Server, RedHat Linux, SQL, PL/SQL, Visual Basic, C#, & Python
+ Practical experience with Ellucian Banner, Banner Event Publisher, Canvas, Modo Labs, Starfish, Interfolio & Data Warehouse techniques
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Experience in a public higher education environment.
+ Experience in Software Development and standards associated with Software Development Lifecycle / Application Lifecycle Management.
+ Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle
+ Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, tools and concepts in ITIL.
+ Previous experience in Database Administration, Data Warehouse, SQL & Oracle DB.
This is a part time position, 20 hours weekly.
