Summary:  

The summer intern will integrate with the IT Network Engineering team in learning and applying basic skills in the areas of network design, implementation, and support. This includes network monitoring, upgrades and remediation. In addition, they will develop knowledge around Cyber Security, including threat detection, vulnerability management and remediation.   

 

Essential Duties: 

Learn and apply basic network design and configuration principles

Learn and apply basic network monitoring and troubleshooting techniques

Assist in defining and maintaining technical documentation and network diagrams

Develop metrics for increased tracking and reporting on network performance and availability

Track network security vulnerabilities and assist in performing remediation (code upgrades) 

Assist in maintaining network device inventory databases via Cisco management tools

Explore network automation opportunities for enhancing configuration standards

Network security principles (FW’s Accesslist, etc.)

Assist in resolving network incidents within SLA’s

Assist in Telco Carrier audit to determine path diversity, resiliency, etc. 

 

Under This Roof, We Require: 

Degree or pursuing degree in Information Technology or Electrical Engineering

Technical aptitude with an interest in IT infrastructure 

Under This Roof, We also value: 

Basic Understanding of public cloud networking, especially within Azure and Google 

Any experience with scripting such as Python

Good problem-solving skills

Understanding/embracing the value of teamwork

Basic understanding of core network components (routers, switches, wireless, and firewalls)

Basic understanding and interest in LAN/WAN and cloud technologies

Ability to work analytically to solve problems in a large environment

Good communication and interpersonal skills
