Summary This position is being filled under Direct Hire Auth 5 U.S.C. § 9905, 6/23/2023. This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent serves as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist Security (INFOSEC) for the Joint Assessment Division (JAD), located at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida working under the supervision of the Sustainment Branch Chief. Responsibilities This position is being filled under Direct Hire Auth 5 U.S.C. § 9905, 6/23/2023. As a IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) at the GS-2210-12 some of your typical work assignments may include: Responsible for program management and training personnel on information security (INFOSEC) practices to support DoD-wide Operational and Technical Assessments. Develops detailed plans for IT acquisition, procurements, contractor support requirements that can affect local policy and how assessments are conducted. Provides recommendations to the Branch and Division Chief concerning INFOSEC and IT goals, objectives, policies, and priorities. Responsible for leading the management and implementation of collateral security practices and procedures to ensure security considerations are fixed into assessment projects, formulation plans, execution strategy, sustainment capability, and post-event actions. Serves as a critical division-level cyber enabler for IT and INFOSEC project management for defense-wide CJADC2 warfighter assessments. Participates in assessment events, integrates INFOSEC/Cybersecurity principles, guidelines, and policies into project execution to protect information and ensure mission accomplishment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications You may qualify at the GS-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service: Recognizing Joint Staff, DoD, NATO, Coalition, Military Services, and other government agency system and security requirements to provide advice on planning, sustainment, and execution of mission requirements; Applying IT system security and collateral security program management and compliance for the application of principles, practices, and techniques, and procedures required during planning meetings, execution events, and post event analysis and report writing; Applying IT systems security, INFOSEC processes, and collateral security lifecycle management concepts, practices, and methods in order to develop, monitor, evaluate, perform, independently analyze and resolve security processes; Reviewing organizational IT acquisition requirements, budgetary techniques, and financial status sufficient to identify needs, priorities, and recommend adjustment of IT funding as needed. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
