ISP & Desktop Support Technician

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

Provide 1st and 2nd line support to staff and residential ISP customers via Freshdesk, phone, and remote toolsTroubleshoot fibre/wireless internet, desktop/laptop hardware and software, mobile phones, and VoIP setupsAssist with router setups and CPE configurations (Mikrotik), remote diagnostics, and site-level supportRespond to support tickets, keep users informed throughout, and offer standby/after-hours support when requiredDeploy and manage workstations, laptops, printers, mobile devices, VoIP phones, and residential routersSupport and maintain LAN/WAN networks, internal WiFi APs, biometric systems, AV setups, UPS (Fumes), and smart utility/water metersConfigure and manage wireless links and devices including Mikrotik, Cuddy, and YealinkEnsure seamless system integration and uptime across all devices and infrastructureImplement software and security updates across Windows, Chrome OS, and macOS platformsPerform daily, weekly, and monthly IT maintenance and monitoring tasks to optimize performance and uptimeSupport system upgrades, patch management, and Google Suite administrationTrack and maintain IT inventory and hardware/software assetsManage mobile phone accounts (Vodacom) and provision mobile devicesSet up remote access via TeamViewerCoordinate procurement of IT equipment and repairs, and maintain vendor relationshipsContribute to the development and enforcement of ISP support policies and IT proceduresEnsure adherence to internal IT standards, data security protocols, and industry best practicesMonitor overall system performance and proactively troubleshoot network issuesAssist the ISP Desktop Technician with on-site and remote tasks as neededMaintain high service standards and support IT operational efficiency

Qualifications:

MatricRelevant Information Technology Diploma or Degree advantageousMikrotik MTCNA/MTCREQualification or Certificate in Information Technology or other relevant qualifications from industry recognised institutes (A+, N+, MCSA, MCSE, MCP or MOUSE)

Experience and Knowledge:

Proven working experience as a Desktop Support Technician, Network Support Technician, Systems Administrator, or similar roleExperience installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting desktop and laptop computers and their operating systems and peripherals in office environments (Windows, Chrome OS, Macos).ISP or telecommunications backgroundTicketing, and answering customer queries via the phone

Skills and Attributes

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)Proven organisational and administration skillsAble to perform under pressureCustomer service orientatedKnowledge of outdoor wireless networks (Mikrotik)

Normal working hours are Mondays to Fridays from 08h00 until 17h00 with a 45 minute lunch break. The company allows employees, by approval of the direct manager, to work flexi time between 07h00 and 18h00.
