Position Overview
Aecon Construction Solutions Inc. (ACSI) is a multi-disciplined construction company offering superior civil, electrical and mechanical services including piping, insulation, scaffolding, and module fabrication. We’re always on the search for exceptional craft candidates to fill our ever-expanding project portfolios. ACSI is seeking Ironworker Apprentice & Journeypersons who will be integral to our project’s success. Under the direction of the appropriate site supervisor, they will fabricate structural steel, ornamental work and pre-cast structures. The role requires in depth understanding of structural ironworking techniques, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications to lay out work. Your expertise will support a range of activities which are critical to integrity of the framework.
Key Responsibilities
Read blueprints and specifications to lay out work. Unload and stack steel members so each piece can be hoisted as needed. Erect and install scaffolding, construction cranes, derricks and other hoisting equipment. Assemble rigging (cables, pulleys, hooks) to move heavy equipment and materials. Attach cables from a crane or derrick and direct crane operators with hand signals or radios. Position steel members, properly align connections and insert proper bolt up. Check the alignment and plumbness of steel structure. Assemble and erect prefabricated metal structures, may require cutting modifications (use of oxy-acetylene, plasma and arc welding procedures). Install ornamental and other structural metalwork such as curtain walls, metal stairways, railings, Q-Deck, Monorails, Equipment, and power doors. Will work in tandem with welders. Journeyperson will mentor apprentices respectfully and oversee their safety.
Requirements and Experience
Valid Provincial Journeyperson Ticket or indentured in a Provincial apprenticeship program. (Union cards not accepted) CSTS-20 Certificate Fall Protection Mobile Elevated Work Platform Experience as an Ironworker in an industrial construction environment. Proven ability to work independently and as a part of a team in a fast-paced setting. Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25kg. Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments. Must have a strong understanding of industrial safety procedures and policies.

Location: Yellowknife, NWT
Rate: $33.15 to $47.35 per hour
Schedule: 14/7, 6/1 (locals only)
Camp: Yes
Allowances: Travel allowance based on Province of residence, $60.00 per day LOA.
