Role Description
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced IP Paralegal to join our growing Legal Team. In this role, you will provide proactive IP legal support, offering advice on IP matters and assisting with the management and protection of Kantar Media's assets. You will collaborate with business teams to ensure legal compliance, lead risk, and draft key IP documentation. If you’re passionate about IP law and want to make an impact, this is the role for you!
Key Responsibilities
Lead the IP Portfolio. Assist in overseeing and maintaining the company’s vast trademark, patent, and copyright portfolios, ensuring all filings, renewals, and deadlines are met across various jurisdictions.Prepare and File IP Applications. Support the preparation, filing, and prosecution of trademark applications with the EUIPO, UKIPO, USPTO and other global authorities.Conduct IP Research and Analysis. Perform comprehensive IP searches, including clearance, freedom-to-operate (FTO) and infringement assessments, providing insights and risk analyses to internal stakeholders.Draft and Review IP Documents. Draft and review a variety of legal documents, such as IP assignment agreements, confidentiality agreements, licensing contracts, and cease-and-desist letters.Collaborate with Internal Teams. Work closely with R&D, marketing, and product teams to provide proactive IP advice, ensuring IP protection strategies align with both business goals and the latest laws or regulations.Support IP Disputes and Litigation. Assist in handling internal records for rare instances of IP litigation or disputes, liaising with external counsel, and preparing relevant documentation, including evidence, witness statements, and legal filings.Monitor IP Assets. Regularly supervise the use and protection of the company’s IP assets, alerting the business to any potential infringements or unauthorized use.Required
Relevant Experience. Previous experience in an IP paralegal role, preferably within an in-house legal team or a law firm specializing in IP law.Knowledge of IP Law. Solid understanding of IP laws, particularly in the areas of trademarks, patents, and copyright, as well as familiarity with UKIPO and EUIPO procedures and international IP systems.Strong Organizational Skills. Consistent record to run multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.Excellent Communication Skills. Ability to communicate effectively with both internal teams and external stakeholders, including clients, external counsel, and regulatory bodies.Proficient in Legal Software and Tools. Experience using IP management software, legal databases, and Microsoft Office Suite.
