BlackRock’s Retirement Solutions is a part of Blackrock’s Multi-Asset Strategies and Solutions (MASS) team which provides investment strategies and solutions that employ sophisticated asset allocation, rigorous risk management, and extensive research to deliver specific outcomes tailored to client needs. We are dedicated to delivering investment performance by building portfolio positions that are deliberate, diversified and appropriately scaled. MASS includes tactical asset allocation, factor-based strategies, income funds, target date and target risk products, and impact investing. Our team of over 500 multi-asset investment professionals manages a range of pooled vehicles, model portfolios, and customized mandates for a diversified client base.  Currently, MASS has a strong presence in San Francisco, New York, Princeton, London and throughout Asia Pacific.

The Retirement Solutions team is currently one of BlackRock's most dynamic businesses and has been named by senior management as one of the main engines for future revenue growth. The group aims to serve as a resource for clients globally, providing deep expertise in retirement plans and solutions, along with an ability to deliver innovative retirement solutions to a broad range of plan structures.

Role Description & Responsibilities

The MASS Retirement Solutions Investments Infrastructure team sets the technical and operational strategy for the business. The team ensures constant modernization of our investments platform while leading in the design of scaled, risk-controlled innovation in all future business opportunities. Retirement Solutions is looking for an experienced leader to direct the global infrastructure and operating platform supporting the business to help drive robust, long-term growth across all products globally. This person will play a key role in crafting innovative solutions to the portfolio management, research and product delivery challenges facing the LifePath suite, as well as assisting in the commercialization of our overall product suite and leading large-scale portfolio and technology implementations. Additionally, the role requires setting business-level strategy, driving large, cross-functional initiatives, and influencing the firm's broader strategic agenda on behalf of the business.

Members of the team will partner closely with our research, portfolio management, and product strategy teams as well as with partners in GPS, APG, Tech & Ops, and the broader MASS business to ensure our clients and portfolios are supported at the highest level. To be successful, candidates need to be self-starting leaders who can balance independent action with close collaboration across multiple partners. Individuals must understand and develop clear business strategies and simultaneously lead multi-phase projects with varied partners across a global, matrixed business.

Responsibilities will include:

Lead new product delivery and drive forward key research implementations to deliver on our strategic business and research agendasDesign scaled technology solutions to efficiently deliver investment solutions to internal and external clientsDirect technology partners in the enhancement of the Aladdin platform to scale the creation of target-date specific analytics, product marketing materials, and customized analyses that articulate strategy objectives, performance, and competitive advantages of LifePathPartner with senior leadership throughout the firm to raise awareness and build momentum are around critical initiatives and product pipelineDevelop and present strategic recommendations to senior leadership, including vision, process designs, implementation plans and resource allocationEstablish the priorities and action plans to connect the current investments capabilities to the future-state RS platform

Skills & Qualifications

10+ years of financial services experience, preferably in an investment, technology or business development role5+ years of BlackRock or Aladdin experience with a focus on portfolio analytics, Aladdin technology development/support, client servicing/onboarding, or related roles strongly desiredStrong fund management and investments background along with a deep knowledge of capital markets, asset classes and financial instruments (equities, fixed income and derivatives)Ability to partner at all levels of the organization and cultivate positive connections with team members, managers, partner teams, and senior executives in multiple locationsAdaptable, self-starting personality with keen attention to detail and ability multi-task quickly and efficientlyStrategic and analytical problem solver with excellent written and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to articulate and communicate complex concepts in simple termsKnowledge of Python, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Morningstar Direct, Bloomberg, and/or progress towards CFA, CAIA, CIMA, or CFP is desirableSeries 7 & 63 and insurance license to be acquired within 6 months of hire


For California only the salary range for this position is $147,500 - $209,500. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
