The Group Investment Management (GIM) division is responsible for managing the proprietary Munich Re and ERGO investment portfolio of around €240bn. Being Munich Re's asset owner, GIM bundles the strategic asset allocation on Group level, defines the investment strategy, including the tactical asset allocation, and manages the selection of asset managers for the Group portfolio. Our mission is to create value by efficiently managing capital market risks, optimising returns, by utilising proprietary investment knowledge.
Within GIM, the team is responsible for optimisation and consultancy on strategic asset allocation for all relevant entities. These serve as a direct and regular input for investment decision making in top management level committees.
YOUR JOB
Conduct and coordinate the optimization of the strategic asset allocation for all relevant entities of MunichRe Group (Reinsurance, ERGO P&C, ERGO Life&Health, ERGO International)Communicate, explain, present optimization results and recommend alternative positionings of the strategic investment portfolios to senior managementDevelop the framework for the complex stochastic optimization depending on the requirements and restrictions of the different entities with the aim of proactively reacting to changing business model needsImprove state-of-the-art optimization methods and develop optimization tools and algorithmsValidate and challenge assumptions on return and various risk metricsSupport acquisition and consulting of third-party clients
YOUR PROFILE
Successfully completed university degree in mathematics, physics, business administration or economics with a quantitative focusExcellent analytical and conceptual skills Several years of professional experience in the construction of portfolios, ideally for re- and or primary insurance companiesGood understanding of insurance business models with absolute and/ or relative return targetsExpert knowledge of a broad range of capital market instruments Knowledge of quantitative business company models would be an advantageExcellent expertise in programming languages such as Matlab, R, VBA, PythonGood command of written and spoken German and English language
