The role is for an Investment Risk Specialist, based in Dublin. The role holder will act as the Designated Person PCF39C (subject to CBI approval) for Fund Risk Management on behalf of Northern Trust Fund Managers Ireland Limited, which is authorised as a UCITS Management Company. The individual will work within the global Risk team, focused on supporting the successful EMEA and APAC Asset Management business and reporting to the International Chief Risk Officer.

The role is a great opportunity for someone looking to combine core investment risk responsibility for $200bn of AUM (predominantly in EU regulated vehicles) with involvement in a larger global investment and risk business.

The individual will be the expert on all investment risk considerations (including sustainability risks) for our EU domiciled fund ranges, and our SMAs across EMEA and APAC. Currently this is focused on index and quant, equity and fixed income, and liquidity products. They will also be involved in the broader global investment risk process, providing advice and expertise alongside the asset class specialists.

The Key Responsibilities of the Role Include:

Day-to-day oversight of investment risk processesIntegration of sustainability risk monitoringReporting to Boards and regulatorsPerforming the DP for Fund Risk Management role, including responding to regulator queriesSupporting global risk framework developmentProviding investment risk advice to portfolio managersSpecialist advice and challenge for new products and client mandates, especially UCITS and AIFsResponding to client queries and leading discussions with clients on investment risk mattersContinuous development and ownership of appropriate investment risk frameworks for EMEA and APAC businessesWorking with operational risk experts on incident response challengeParticipation in cross-functional committees supporting ongoing governance and strategic developmentsRepresenting NTAM at external asset management associations

Skills/ Experience Required:

Track record in a risk management capacity at a senior level, with detailed knowledge of asset management businesses, especially EU/UK regulated entitiesSuitable qualifications and experience that directly support the expectations of the PCF39C role (DP for Fund Risk Management)Experience with regulatory communication and expectations, as well as knowledge of relevant CBI, ESMA, AIFMD and UCITS regulationsPractical application of investment risk oversight, with particular focus on quant and index productsExcellent analytical skills, with the ability to identify problems, develop and communicate strategic solutionsCompelling written and verbal communicator, with the ability to adjust communication style to audience need when explaining complex situationsExperience and technical competency in data reporting, analysis and automation tools such as PowerBI, Power Automate, Python and Microsoft ExcelA global outlook with sensitivity and awareness of social and cultural differencesSeveral years in an asset management risk role, or a market risk role
