The Opportunity
As an Investment Quantitative Developer, the ideal candidate will draw on their knowledge of financial models and software development principles to help architect technology solutions for a fast-paced market-driven environment. A background in fixed income instrument modeling will help you in working closely with quantitative strategists, subject matter experts, and other development resources to research and build features, components, and analytics for a new analytical platform in development in Investment Management. This role requires both Python and SQL programming ability and comfort with emerging cloud-based technologies. You will work in a fast-paced, innovative, and collaborative environment to support MassMutual’s FX hedging and help build MassMutual’s market analytics infrastructure and other exciting technology directives.
The Team
This position will be part of the Quantitative Research and Development (R&D) team within Investment Management. The team has a primary focus and responsibility for researching new ideas and strategies and for developing underlying technologies and analytics across MassMutual’s hedging programs. As part of R&D, you will have numerous opportunities to learn, develop, and apply new skills using the latest technologies within a continuously evolving business and market landscape. The Impact:
The quantitative developer will have accountability for performing the following:
Research, architect, and design cutting edge technology solutionsLeverage cloud solutions and implement web applications, tools, and APIsDevelop and provide unit, integration, and regression testsUndertake broader special research and development projects as neededCollaborate with colleagues in other areas of MassMutual for modelling and analyticsThe Minimum Qualifications
1+ years of Python coding experience1+ years of code management and testing Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Engineering, Computer Science or related fieldThe Ideal Qualifications
Proclivity for automation Experience developing code in a group environment Background/understanding of FX instruments and risk Experience with fixed income models Background/understanding of financial rate instruments and rate risk Experience at an investment firm in a market setting Working knowledge of financial rate instruments and rate risk, including FX Key technologies: Python, SQL, Excel, Git, AWS, and related tools and open-source packages Knowledge and experience using the Beacon Platform is a plusWhat to Expect as Part of MassMutual and the Team
